City
Mayor Dan Lim warned he will shutdown drinking joints and billiard halls at the
Central Public Market and Integrated Bus Terminal with the rampant burglaries
in the area.
Meanwhile,
police believe the holdup of a gasoline station along J.A. Clarin Street corner
CPG Avenue and the break-in of two other business establishments were perpetuated
by transients or "dayos" who come here in the province during the Christmas
season.
During
his weekly radio program over dyRD yesterday, the mayor said allowing businesses
to sell liquor during nighttime have repercussions to the security of residents
and their properties.

its main entrance and took away most of the light merchandise that could easily
be hand-carried. |
On
the same night, robbers also broke into DES Marketing along Lesage Street, this
city.
According
to the branch manager, identified as Alfredo Dehing, he was about to open the
establishment at around 7:50 AM when he discovered that the padlock of the main
door was already destroyed, probably with the aid of a cutter.
Various
appliances, of still undetermined amount, were taken by the suspects.
Recovered
from the area were three improvised crowbar, a Swiss knife, screwdriver and a
lighter believed to have been used by the suspect to carry out the crime.
In
less than 24-hours, at around 11:45 noon last Wednesday, three armed men stormed
the Florencio Lim Caltex station located at J.A. Clarin corner CPG Avenue in broad
daylight.
The
three suspects were so daring that they brandished their guns and declared hold-up
even without masks.
One
of the gasoline pumpboys, identified as one Alrey Ihalas, 20, a resident of Balilihan
town, said cashiers and other employees fled their stations after the suspects
showed their guns.
Ihalas
described the three perpetrators to be in their late 20s.
DES
and Caltex management has yet to declare the total amount of losses from the incident.
Police
are still looking into the three cases including the reported burglaries at the
barangay Dao terminal area.
Lim
promised he will provide motorbikes to city police for their mobility and quick
response while additional handguns will also be acquired. |
