Fr.
Mao Mendez of the Lindaville church loves to open his homilies during dawn masses
with questions.
"How
are you this morning?" he sometimes asks.
If
ever Fr. Mao would ask "How is your Christmas, is it merry?" then we
would gladly join him in that question.

For
truly, merriment depends upon what Boy Guingguing says which side of your bread
is being buttered.
And
we agree with Mayor Dan Neri Lim's editorial in his weekly "Mayors Report"
yesterday, although he twitted us later in the program, that Christmas is the
time of giving, rather than that of receiving.
If
we have our way, we would like to make your Christmas day tomorrow be merry with
a new breed of lingo that needs to be defined.

SP
UPDATE. Top on the agenda of the 9th Sangguniang Panlungsod of Tagbilaran before
the year ends is the proposed 2007 general budget of the city government.
Vice
Mayor Nuevas Tirol-Montes disclosed that the committee on appropriations will
meet this week to deliberate on the proposed budget before it will be calendared
for business. We received a copy of the proposed budget but due to the Christmas
parties we attended left and right, we have yet to peruse it.
Last
Wednesday, the city council approved the special rates of a physician and a pharmacist
who are paid as ordinary casual workers in the city for the past months now.
