THE BIRTH OF JESUS CHRIST

"Behold the virgin shall be with child and bear a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel," which means "God is with us."
- Matthew 1:23

Holy Bible

The birth of the Redeemer, Jesus Christ is recorded in the Bible. The Gospel of St. Matthew records the birth of Jesus Christ as follows:

"Now this is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about. When his mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, but before they lived together, she was found with child through the holy Spirit. Joseph her husband, since he was a righteous man, yet unwilling to expose her to shame, decided to divorce her quietly.

"Such was his intention when, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, `Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home. For it is through the holy Spirit that this child has been conceived in her.

She will bear a son and you are to name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins. All this took place to fulfill what the Lord has said, `Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home. For it is through the holy Spirit that this child has been conceived in her. She will bear a son and you are to name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins. All this took place to fulfill what the Lord has said through the prophet:

'Behold, the virgin shall be with child and bear a son, an they shall name him Emmanuel,' which means 'God is with us.' When Joseph awoke, he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took his wife into his home. He had no relations with her until she bore a son, and he named him Jesus." (Matthew 1:18-25, Holy Bible)

It appears that there will be a three-cornered mayoralty fight in the City of Tagbilaran.

Two Administration slates will be fighting against one United Opposition slate. The Administration slates are the Lakas CMD headed by former Mayor Jose V. Torralba and the Kampi slate led by incumbent Mayor Dan N. Lim. The Administration slate will tangle with the United Opposition slate of retired Gen. Alberto Olario. The latter intimated that he will be running under the PDP Laban.

Under Olario's slate are probable candidates, incumbent Councilor Edgar Bompat, lawyers Nerio Zamora II, Cristifil Baluma and Rene Paredes, Cogon Kagawads Jeremias Pabe and Charles T. Cabalit, and former City Councilor Danilo Bantugan and Edgar Kapirig.

With Torralba are incumbent Councilors Lucio Balbin and Archie Sarmiento.

More names are expected to crop up as the election draws nearer.
