For
this edition, we are giving way to an e-mail sender who is spending his yuletide
season abroad. He specially requested that his e-mail be published.
Here's
a typical outpouring of emotion of a city resident who is an OFW longing for his
family and friends while searching for a greener pasture thousands of miles away.
At
the same time, he is giving our warning to prospective OFWs from the city. Here's
his edited e-mail:. "Merry
Christmas and Happy New Year to you all.
I'm
an avid reader of your column even if I'm not there in our home place - Tagbilaran
City.
I
would like to introduce myself first. .I'm Jonathan S. Thelmo, a resident of 57
M. Torralba St. just near in your station. (DYRD).
Even
while in Seoul , South Korea. I kept on reading the Bohol Chronicle and until
I transferred here in Dubai, UAE where I met a lot of Boholanos.
Here
in Dubai , I met lots of Boholanos holding the famous Visit Visa status and we're
very thankful that all of us got a job now.
Like
me, Ms. Maribeth Bungabong, a resident of Karaw-an, Mildred Sarabia of Mansasa
District, Marnie Hangos of Sta. Cruz Street, Brgy. Kag. Cirila Pancha of Dampas
district, DJay Pilayre of Bool District, the sisters Delma and Delmarie Chatto
of Cogon District, Francisco and Gladys Balane of Mansasa District and Myla Varquez
of Dao District. We're very happy over here and enjoyed a lot working here abroad.
I
just want also to help to inform our Boholano community not to be lured of any
recruitment in the amount of P65,000.00 or more as it is very expensive and too
much. The
actual price really if somebody wants to help our kababayans out there is less
than P52,000.00 for the plane ticket and visa and two months accommodation (1
month advance and 1 month deposit)..
The
real status here really for visit visa is very difficult. You must have patience
and lot of factors is to be considered in looking a job over here. Please do inform
our Boholano community out there to be vigilant against illegal recruiters and
legal recruiters who charge exorbitant amounts. Let's help one another to succeed.
Lastly,
please extend my best regards to my mother, Mrs. Judith S. Thelmo of Tagbilaran
City Central School and to my brother Nino and sisters Lourdes and Maryjo."
