SP nods power, water buy-back

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) unanimously granted "blanket authority" to Gov. Erico Aumentado to negotiate for the reacquisition of the water and power utilities controlled by majority shareholder Salcon group during a special conference last Monday at the Bohol Beach Club in Panglao town.

This, in effect, provides the governor a freehand to "take appropriate action" on what he deems necessary to protect the welfare of the consumers of Bohol Water Utilities Inc. (BWUI) and Bohol Light Company Inc. (BLCI).

ready to surface

Abra Gov. Vicente Valera is now the object of a manhunt of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) after he was implicated in the murder of Rep. Luis Bersamin.

But Valera, in an e-mail message, denied involvement in the murder of Bersamin and that he was in hiding, saying he was ready to cooperate in the investigation.

"Dayo" behind 3 rob cases

City Mayor Dan Lim warned he will shutdown drinking joints and billiard halls at the Central Public Market and Integrated Bus Terminal with the rampant burglaries in the area.

Meanwhile, police believe the holdup of a gasoline station along J.A. Clarin Street corner CPG Avenue and the break-in of two other business establishments were perpetuated by transients or "dayos" who come here in the province during the Christmas season.

Year-end Sale at Island City

The Holiday sale weeks ago was a big success, and with more and more customers craving for hefty discounts the sale continues at Island City Mall.

Big discounts of up to 50% on great selections will be given away at the Home & Fashion Department, including most of the tenant shops of Island City Mall on December 28, 29, and 30.

Meanwhile, Island City Mall is open until 10:30 PM on December 29-30, in order to accommodate the expected throng of holiday shoppers who will greet the New Year.
