All set for Alturas 21st anniversary
By RICHARD C. CUTHING

Alturas Supermarket Corporation, the original superstore that revolutionized grocery business in the Province of Bohol and the City of Tagbilaran, is all set for its 21st anniversary celebration on November 24, 2006. A series of projects and promotional activities are lined up for the special occasion, all aimed at thanking all sectors of the buying public that make Alturas what it is today.

The opening salvo took place yesterday, November 11, at the Island City Mall Activity Center, for the first semi-final round of the search of Little Miss Alturas. Five finalists were picked out from 12 pretty girls who wowed a capacity crowd with their flair for entertainment and artistry through their talents and ability to communicate. Another five finalists will represent the second batch who will be given the time of their lives to perform to a standing-room-only audience on Saturday, November 18. The ten finalists will vie for the crown on November 25, 2006. Handsome prizes in cash and in kind await the winners.

From November 16 to 17 a three-day Free Clinic will be held at the Alturas Food Center, where indigent patients are privileged to have free medical consultation and medicine. A 3-day Anniversary Sale is scheduled from November 24 to 26, also at Alturas Supermarket, with discounts as high as 50% on selected items.

A daily Anibersaryo Computer Game Promo commences on November 17 and culminates on December 17. For every cash purchase worth P300, a customer is entitled to punch three numbers on a computer. Everyone wins, depending upon his luck, assorted home appliances, kitchenware, grocery items, and other goodies. The month-long promo is most welcome by all Alturas customers.

The Instant Milyonaryo Cash Papremyo Raffle Promo is still on-going. It started on July 1 and will end on December 31, 2006. Four customers have already proven their luck by winning P400, 000. Another 20 have received P200, 000. The fifth draw is set on December 3, where a lucky customer will win P100, 000 and 5 will have P10, 000 each.

The final draw is on December 31, when the luckiest of them all will win the jackpot prize of P1, 000, 000 and become an instant millionaire, aside from 5 who will receive a consolation prize of P50, 000 each.

The Alturas Drum and Bugle Corps Showdown caps the annual celebration of the beloved superstore. Now on its 19th year, the Showdown has been participated in by Drum and Bugle Corps all over the Visayas and Mindanao. With more than P1, 000, 000 in cash prizes, allowances and other give-aways, the Showdown is easily the biggest of its kind outside of Metro Manila. Dubbed as "The Greatest Show in Town," all the proceeds of the grand undertaking is given to CWL's "Sunshine Home" and DYRD's "Tagbilaran-By-Nite."
