SUCCESS FOR BOHOL

"All traveling has its advantages. If the passenger visits better countries he may learn to improve his own; and if fortune carries him to worse, he may learn to enjoy his own."
- Jose Abad Santos

"All least five congressional candidates in the Third District of Bohol will be vying for nomination as official candidate of the ruling Lakas CMD party. They are Board Member Dionisio Balite, businessman Angelo Balili, City DepEd Supt. Elpdio Jala, former Board Member Alexander H. Lim, and lawyer Bic-bic Abrenilla of NEDA.

A reliable source revealed that former Gov. Rene Relampagos would not be joining the administration Lakas CMD, but would remain with the opposition Partido ng Masang Pilipino.

Gov. Erico B. Aumentado, Lakas CMD provincial chairman, said that the selection of the official Lakas congressional bet for Third District would be decided by a party convention.

Businessman Balili said that he would abide by the results of the party convention.

In the City of Tagbilaran, City Mayor Dan N. Lim in a radio interview indicated that he is not joining the Lakas CMD because he ran as an independent candidate. He acknowledged the efforts of Manila Mayor Lito Atienza to get the Lakas nomination for him, saying it is Atienza's right to do so.

Reports indicated that former Mayor Jose V. Torralba and retired Gen. Alberto Olario are interested to get the Lakas CMD city mayoralty nomination. Following the decision in the Third District of Bohol, Lakas CMD would likely hold a citywide convention to decide on who would be the official bet of the Lakas CMD.

After the success in the field of infrastructure, Gov. Erico B. Aumentado continued to reap success in other fields for the province of Bohol. Earlier, Gov. Aumentado, as a congressman, succeeded in getting the funds for the start of the Bohol Circumferential Road Project in Second District and the construction of the Bohol Irrigation Project in Pilar, Ubay, and neighboring towns. As governor of Bohol, he succeeded in continuing the road concreting project under the Bohol Circumferential Road Project in the First and Second Districts of Bohol.

Recently, Gov. Aumentado was able to secure funds from China for the purchase of hospital equipment for the district hospitals operated by the Provincial Government of Bohol.

Last Saturday, Gov. Aumentado and Jiangxi Gov. Huang Zhiquan signed the Bohol-Jiangxi Sisterhood Agreement in Jiangxi, China.

President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo personally witnessed the signing of the accord.

Bohol was on the spotlight during last Saturday's historic event which highlighted the seven-day presidential visit to China.

Jiangxi donated P7.5 million for the improvement of the health facilities of the province-operated district hospitals.

With the governor to witness the signing were Vice Gov. Julius Herrera, City Mayor Dan Lim, Sagbayan Mayor Jimmy Torrefranca, Hans Schoof, consultant for tourism and investment, and Norris Oculam, president of the Bohol Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
