Guv warns "brokers" of lots for new airport

Gov. Erico Aumentado warns Panglao lot owners that will be affected by the construction of the international airport in said town to be wary of unscrupulous individuals floating the idea that the provincial government will be purchasing their lots at P20 per square meter.

Jubilant from his successful Jiangxi, China trip, the governor bared over dyRD's "Pulso" that the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) finally released P26.75 million through the provincial government's special trust account for the initial lot acquisitions in barangays Bolod, Tawala, Lourdes and Danao for the Panglao Bohol International Airport.

This was the dim prediction made yesterday by a leading member of the Senate vis a vis the nomination of the tart-tongued Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago to the top post in the judiciary, which will be vacated by Chief Justice Artemio Panganiban when he retires on Dec. 7.

 Torture kills Boholana OFW

After two years of hard work and torture in Syria, a Boholana overseas Filipino worker (OFW) returned home two weeks ago and was hospitalized in Manila and died on Tuesday, not seeing again her two kids and an abandoning husband.

Zeny Cenerpida Melencion, 44, of Danao town, was diagnosed for lung cancer but died of brain damage after being maltreated by her employer, her sister Myrna said.

8th diocesan confab
on family, life today

The 1,500 enriched couples who are members of the Diocesan Commission on Family and Life in the Diocese of Tagbilaran will gather today at the Metro Centre Hotel, this city, on the occasion of their 8th Diocesan Congress on Family and Life.

With the theme "The Family: Transmitter of Faith," the congress will kick-off with a holy mass at 8:30 in the morning to be officiated by Bishop Juan de Dios Pueblos, DD, bishop of Butuan.

 The powerful Roman Catholic Church, citing the constancy of moral principles, lambasted the injustice done on the murder of Victor Olayvar, a farmer-leader gunned down mercilessly by bonnet-wearing, motorcycle-riding assassins last month.

Edited by a true leader of its flock, the Pastoral Letter, read and expounded in all churches last Sunday asked three pointed questions to the authorities: What is the result of the investigations, who are the triggermen and who asked them to kill Olayvar?
