Dumaluan Beach closed

Dumaluan Beach Resort in Panglao town was closed down as of 2 o'clock yesterday having been operating without an Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC).

The Cease and Desist Order (CDO) personally came from Environment and Natural Resources Secretary Angelo Reyes and was served by Undersecretary Roy Kiamko together with Eduardo Inting of the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO).

 FIGHTING TUBERCULOSIS. Control program against TB in children was launched yesterday with a signing of a memorandum of agreement (MOA) at the city hall. The program will be implemented initially in Tagbilaran City and Panglao town through the Department of Health and World Vision. Present during the MOA signing were DOH-7 Regional Director Dr. Lakshimi Legaspi; World Vision Regional Coordinator Jasmine Villahermosa; City Vice Mayor Nuevas Tirol-Montes; Panglao Municipal Administrator Frank Montero; and Atty. Handel Lagunay, representing the governor.

GIVING CREDIT TO FILIPINOS
 

To succeed in business, Filipinos must have land, labor and capital.

To some extent, the first two are available. The third factor - capital - is a luxury in this country whose low 15% national savings rate means that Filipinos are hard put in meeting basic necessities to even contemplate about savings. Not having savings means not being able to pool capital for a business idea.

Warning vs alternative dengue
treatment - DOH

The Department of Health (DOH) warned the public not to resort to alternative methods to treat dengue, like the so-called "magic water" whose therapeutic components have not been validated.

Dr. Eric Tayag, DOH chief epidemiologist, said health experts do not recommend any other forms of treatment for dengue except for rehydration and blood transfusion for severe cases.
