Ruling awaited on Loon election tie

Five members of the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) flew in yesterday to address the shortage of judges here in the province.

There are 13 Municipal Circuit Trial Courts (MCTC) in Bohol that do not have judges, one of the most number of vacancies in the country.

The JBC is tasked with the selection and nomination of prospective judges including the opening of vacancies in the courts nationwide.

House panel OKs resolution on Constitutional amendments

MANILA. A resolution containing a package of amendments to the 1987 Constitution has been approved by a committee at the House of Representatives tasked to deliberate on the issue.

 'SURRENDER OR LEAVE'. This was how Gov. Erico B. Aumentado (far left) dared highway robbers and lawless elements yesterday as he and PNP Bohol Director SSupt. Arturo Evangelista (right) presented to the media five arrested suspects at Camp Dagohoy . Arrested in separate operations were Pacatang murder suspect Christopher Buslon , 27, of Poblacion, Pilar town who was captured together with one Gerry Toledo, 29, of Maragasan, Davao del Norte who was in a possession of a .38 cal revolver with 6 amunitions. The two were captured in Pilar town by PIIB operatives and Pilar police with a warrant of arrest. Meanwhile, Buenavista police arrested one of the three suspects who help up a Pepsi delivery last week identified as Diosdado Torregosa, 29, resident of Barangay Lubang of this town. While the PNP's campaign to round up loose firearms netted two in separate arrests. One Dario Suello, 27, also a resident of Luband, Buenavista, was found in the possession of a 357 pistol during a checkpoint conducted by the town's police and Roberto Manggay, 55, resident of Bacarin, Clarin town, who is a former CAFGU and is alleged to be repairing and maintaining firearms for a living, was also arrested by Clarin police and PIIB operatives on the basis of a search warrant.
