A
financier of the illegal numbers game "swertres"
operating in the towns of Guindulman, Duero, Anda and
Candijay was arrested by operatives of the Criminal
Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Tuesday night
in barangay Tabahan, Guindulman.
The
financier, identified as one Orlando O. Tañedo
alias Alay, 45 years old, resident of Tabahan, Guindulman,
finally fell into the hands of the CIDG's "Oplan
Roulette" in coordination with elements of the
Guindulman PNP who conducted a raid in the suspect's
residence.
The
raid was made by virtue of a search warrant issued by
Regional Trial Court Branch 50 Presiding Judge Dionisio
Calibo Jr.

CIDG-Bohol
chief SInsp. Germano Mallari told the Chronicle that they
were able to arrest Tañedo at about 9:30 in the evening.
The suspect is a candidate for councilor in Guindulman.

Confiscated
during their raid of the suspect's house were a total
of P25,550 cash in different denominations, believed
to be collections from "swertres" bettors,
85 pieces of tally sheets containing different number
combinations, 2 units of Nokia cellular phones, a calculator,
16 pieces of ballpens, stapler and markers.
Police
also seized three units of motorcycles, Sym 99 with
plate number LO7241, Honda XRM without license plate
and a DT Yamaha also without plate number.
The
search was conducted in the presence of barangay kagawad
Leonardo Olaso and barangay tanod Artemio Bernat.

Tañedo
is the latest arrest made by the PNP after an intensified
campaign against the illegal numbers game initiated by Bohol
PNP Director SSupt. Edgardo Ingking.
In
the past weeks the operations against "swertres"
resulted in apprehensions of several bet collectors and ushers.
Presently,
Tañedo is temporarily detained at the Camp Dagohoy
while charges in violation of PD 1602, as amended by RA 9287,
are being prepared against the suspect.
The
suspect may face a minimum of 14 to 16 years imprisonment
if found guilty.
