A financier of the illegal numbers game "swertres" operating in the towns of Guindulman, Duero, Anda and Candijay was arrested by operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Tuesday night in barangay Tabahan, Guindulman.

The financier, identified as one Orlando O. Tañedo alias Alay, 45 years old, resident of Tabahan, Guindulman, finally fell into the hands of the CIDG's "Oplan Roulette" in coordination with elements of the Guindulman PNP who conducted a raid in the suspect's residence.

The raid was made by virtue of a search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 50 Presiding Judge Dionisio Calibo Jr.

CIDG-Bohol chief SInsp. Germano Mallari told the Chronicle that they were able to arrest Tañedo at about 9:30 in the evening. The suspect is a candidate for councilor in Guindulman.

Confiscated during their raid of the suspect's house were a total of P25,550 cash in different denominations, believed to be collections from "swertres" bettors, 85 pieces of tally sheets containing different number combinations, 2 units of Nokia cellular phones, a calculator, 16 pieces of ballpens, stapler and markers.

Police also seized three units of motorcycles, Sym 99 with plate number LO7241, Honda XRM without license plate and a DT Yamaha also without plate number.

The search was conducted in the presence of barangay kagawad Leonardo Olaso and barangay tanod Artemio Bernat.

Tañedo is the latest arrest made by the PNP after an intensified campaign against the illegal numbers game initiated by Bohol PNP Director SSupt. Edgardo Ingking.

In the past weeks the operations against "swertres" resulted in apprehensions of several bet collectors and ushers.

Presently, Tañedo is temporarily detained at the Camp Dagohoy while charges in violation of PD 1602, as amended by RA 9287, are being prepared against the suspect.

The suspect may face a minimum of 14 to 16 years imprisonment if found guilty.
