13 face disqualification

Twelve disqualification petitions have been filed against 13 candidates at the provincial Comelec office.

Of the 12 cases for disqualification and cancellation of certificates of candidacies (COC), one involves a congressional bet, 8 are filed against mayoralty bets, 3 involving vice-mayoralty candidates and 2 candidates for municipal councilor.

Most of the petitions are based on the grounds that these respondent-candidates lack the residency requirement needed for a particular elective position.

"THE TATAD PRINCIPLE"
 
  There is something wrong with the one page "sermon" of Oppus Dei, former senator and press secretary of the Dictator Ferdinand Marcos (Francisco "Kit" Tatad) we read in The Manila Times last Monday.

Addressing it to the Youth of the country, Tatad declared that all the senatorial candidates of Team Unity and Genuine Opposition belong to the "Partido ng Oportunista ng Pilipinas" and therefore none of them deserves to be in the senate.

The lawyer of actor-turned-senatorial candidate, Cesar Montano, tried to convince election commissioners on Tuesday to allow the continued use of Montano's smiling face on the delivery vans of a purified drinking water company because the advertisingmaterials did not bank on "name recall," but on "face recall."
