"overflows" for
vote buying expenses |

Vote
buying even in this predominantly religious province
has reached to an alarming proportion which confirms
observations from non-Boholanos that election
here is getting very expensive.
A
highly placed source told the Chronicle that some
mayoralty bets are ready to shell out P2,000 per
voter in order to ensure their victory in the
May 14 polls. The funding mostly come from the
wealthy candidates themselves while others are
enjoying the financial support of their benefactors
who have their own personal interests in the municipalities
where they reside.

Gringo
to replace weak TU bet?
SAN
FRANCISCO, Agusan del Sur - Rumors are rife that former senator
Gregorio "Gringo" Honasan - who was allowed to post
bail on charges of leading a short-lived mutiny in 2003 -
is set to replace one of the weakest candidates of the administration
Team Unity.
Speculations
were apparently triggered by Honasan's sudden release from
detention and an admission made by Team Unity senatorial candidate
Michael Defensor that he was "open" to the idea
of Honasan replacing one of them.
"Our
advocacy is not different from Senator Honasan and Team Unity.
We are both for peace, reconciliation and unity," Defensor
said.

No
funds for opposition bets
Six
senatorial candidates of the Genuine Opposition (GO)
including two incumbent opposition senators came to
Bohol for their campaign sortie and the proclamation
rally of local bets who were all expecting financial
and logistical support from the GO national hierarchy.
However,
the release of much-needed funding to wage an electoral
battle against the well-oiled machinery of administration
candidates in the province, never happened.

The

People

obsessive politics where politicians kill one another
in order to serve the public they will steal from
Before
SWS released the recent survey results, there were
