Chinabank celebrates 87th year;
Opens branch in Tagbilaran City

SIGNS OF A FLOURISHING LOCAL ECONOMY? The latest addition to the number of banks in the city. Marking its 87th year last Aug. 16, Chinabank opens its first branch in Tagbilaran, kicking off with an office blessing by Fr. Jingboy Saco, in the presence of the bank staff and guests. Inset photo shows branch manager, Mr. Rodney Lumuthang.

Commencing business on August 16, 1920, China Bank celebrates its 87th anniversary this year by opening its doors to serve the banking and financial needs of the Boholano public.

With its new branch located along CPG Avenue (at the site of the former Melrose Bldg.), Chinabank had its soft opening last Thursday with a Holy Mass and office blessing by Fr. Jingboy Saco, attended by guests and bank officers and staff led by VISMIN Regional Manager Patrick U. Go. The branch manager, Mr. Rodney Lumuthang, is currently in Manila attending the Officers' Development Training.

The province has long attracted the interest of Chinabank, a universal bank that was cited last year as the highest-ranking among Philippine Banks in terms of practicing the principles of good governance.

In March 2007, some 200 Chinabank branch mangers and key executives trooped to the shores of Panglao Island during its 2007 BBG National Convention held at the Bohol Beach Club. In Newsteller, the official publication of China Banking Corporation, the managers heaped praises upon the beauty of the island and the excitement they had on their convention, which included tours to various sites in Bohol.
