Everybody
loves a winner, no doubt about it.
So
when Rey "Boom Boom" Bautista kissed the canvass
several minutes after the start of the first round last Sunday,
his winning streak of 21 unbeaten fights ended. And so do
with the fame and fanfare not to mention the hallelujahs from
politicians.
Ditto
for Czar Amonsot when he lost via unanimous decision to Michael
Katsidis in an earlier fight also in the United States.

Not
a few critics of City Mayor Dan Neri Lim quickly drew the
observation that in these two major setbacks, he was there
where the action is. This is short of saying that city mayor
is the jinx.
In
Amonsot's case, Lim went to the US before the fight to give
him the much-needed mental toughness in the semblance of a
father figure. The city mayor went back to the Philippines
before the fight.
It
was only in Bautista's fight that the city mayor was there
at the Arco Arena in Sacramento, California where the event
was held.

In
other words, Lim's role was not similarly situated in these
two losing fights. It is therefore unfair to label him as
the jinx to both Amonsot and Bautista.
Upon
his arrival here last Friday, the city mayor also raised this
jinx issue and without batting an eyelash, he pointed out
with its similarity to his political career when he was still
used to losing.
Considering
that everybody loves a winner, Lim said he reached several
points in his life when he was all by his lonesome.

Without
necessarily veering away from the pressing concerns of the
city especially with the upsurge of criminalities, the city
mayor always make it a point to pitch in for his favorite
"Botika sa Katawhan" through Deputy Mayor Mario
Uy with the mission of giving free medicines to the city's
poorest of the poor.
At the same time, Lim will also have his hands full on how
to re-package and hone two patients in his ward, Amonsot and
Bautista.
Let's make way. The city mayor is also now a doctor.
