GIANT, NOT WHITE, EYESORE

Here's a rejoinder on the DWPH move to stop the Agora construction.

Even the Boholanos in Metro Manila are eager to see the Agora complex completed as may be gleaned from this e-mail from Engr. Pat Manlangit, vice president for the 1st district of the Boholano Association of Metro Manila Inc. (BAMMI).

And he has this to say: "I have just come from Tagbilaran City last weekend. I was part of the delegation of the Bohol Association of Metro Manila, Inc., (BAMMI), who participated in the grand parade last Sunday (July 22). My daughter, Trixie, was one of the three muses on board the BAMMI float. This we did under the very hot sun, for the love of Bohol.

I would like to share to your column regarding the Agora complex. When our float reached the Agora complex during the parade, I noticed that there were people working on the unfinished building. I asked our driver, what is going on at this complex? The driver answered, the City Government would like to finish the supposedly, public market.

I was happy to hear from him that at last the people of Tagbilaran noticed that this building is really a GIANT EYESORE (This description is similar or akin to our friend's giant, este white elephant. Hehehe - DAB). Now, if the DPWH would block the City Government, that complex would remain an EYESORE. It is not the DPWH people who would feel the shame but the whole Bohol and the Boholanos all over the earth ... like the Loboc Bridge.

The City of Tagbilaran would become more beautiful and progressive once the Agora complex will be completed and occupied. Pull out the street vendors, give them a place in this complex for their trade and livelihood. It would also create more business opportunities and jobs to Boholanos.

I wish and pray that all Boholanos would support the City Government of Tagbilaran in their desire to complete the Agora complex. Let us show to our tourists and visitors that in Bohol, there is no eyesore...only beauty, clean and green.

Before I forget, I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Loy Palapos for the very beautiful results of the Sandugo festival. More power Sir Loy.

And also my belated congratulations to Councilor Beben Inting of Tagbilaran City. In case Councilor Beben forgot me, I am the one who live in front of Bro. Fred Paraiso's residence in Multinational Village. We also meet in several Boholano gatherings in Manila."

OTHER INBOX. Our avid reader, Manuel Fuderanan now based in Bakersfield City, wrote a lengthy piece about the city's drainage problem.

We shall publish his e-mail after the completion of our three-part series On PCL every Wednesday issue.

Our thanks to Glen Navarro, Hermes Quijada, Atty. Nilo Ahat and Daylinda Luz Laput for sending us forwarded e-mails.
