"BHIP-2 execs liable
for illegal fund use"

Administrators of the Bohol Irrigation Project Stage-2 (BHIP-2) can be charged of technical malversation of funds for the purchase of two luxury vehicles being used by the governor and a congressman.

The fund used for the vehicle purchase was taken from the irrigation project which was admitted by BHIP-2 Project Manager Modesto Membreve during an interview over dyRD's top-rated "Inyong Alagad" Monday.

Hardly had the ink dried on our warning on schemes fleecing Filipinos of their hard-earned bucks, when we hear of some 100 poor Leyte residents victimized by illegal recruiters.

The modern-day con-men gave a flashy address to the unsuspecting provincianos of Burauen Leyte - a class act pre-departure board and lodging hospitality at a Harvard Street in Green Valley Heights in Marikina City. They were promised teaching jobs and hotel employment in Italy, Japan and Hongkong.

Mt. Bulusan explodes

SORSOGON CITY. Mt. Bulusan exploded yesterday morning, sending a thick ash column over five kilometers above its summit, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology (Phivolcs) here said.

It was a phreatic type of eruption characterized by a massive emission of volcanic ash accompanied by an explosion-type of earthquake detected by seismographs at the Phivolcs observatory at Barangay Cabid-an in this provincial capital.
