Public cries out for police action

City residents are clamoring for a more effective drive to comb the rising criminalities in the city during the past three weeks.

The latest incident claimed the life of a marketing and sales executive of Bohol Tropics Resort Club who was gunned down in cold blood after parking his car in front of his residence along JS Torralba st., this city early Monday dawn.

The latest victim identified as Jack Arat, 30, suffered a single gunshot wound which caused severe bleeding. He was pronounced dead five hours later at the Gov. Celestino Gallares Regional Hospital, this city.

POLITICAL PRAGMATISM: AMNESTY
 

Speaker Jose de Venecia, master political baton leader, is asking Congress to grant an all-encompassing "amnesty for all Enemies of the State" to include former president Erap Estrada and rebel-turned-senator Antonio Trillanes IV.

This does not come from the immaculate purity of the heart of JDV but simple political arithmetic. The last three years is a GMA swan song - and she could yet be a lame duck president or a serious candidate for an ouster from general restiveness outside.

Just Before Deadline
'Kissing' judge acquitted

The Supreme Court yesterday dismissed the sexual harassment charges filed against a judge of Davao City Regional Trial Court Branch 16 by a court stenographer for her failure to prove her allegations beyond reasonable doubt.

In a 14-page en banc resolution penned by Associate Justice Cancio Garcia, the high court said the evidence against Judge Emmanuel Carpio is insufficient to warrant his dismissal or suspension from service.
