Padding hospital
bills exposed here

False claims on hospitalization payments made on the Blue Card program are exposed as city lawmakers ask for a full-blown inquiry into the reported padding of hospital bills.

City Health Officer Dr. Antonio Porticos revealed to the Chronicle yesterday that investigations are ongoing on the alleged padding by the Medical Mission Group Hospital and Health Services Cooperative (Coop Hospital) as exposed by a Blue Card beneficiary.

The Coop Hospital is among three hospitals accredited under the city's Blue Card program which includes the Gov. Celestino Gallares Regional Hospital and Englewood Hospital.

Bohol Army troops
pulled out for Sulu


A battalion of soldiers that were assigned to fight communist rebels here in Bohol was sent to Jolo, Sulu to reinforce government troops now conducting operations against the Abu Sayyaf.

The 15th Infantry Battalion was deployed to Sulu on Aug. 11.

The troops, numbering from 600 to 700, were pulled out late last month from their headquarters in Carmen town to augment forces fighting in Sulu in the wake of the all-out military offensive against the Abu Sayyaf following the beheading of 10 Marines last July 10 in Basilan province.
