Another
Boholano will be ordained as Bishop after Pope
Benedict XVI appointed last night Msgr. Crispin
Varquez as new Bishop of Borongan, Samar.
He
is the 14th Boholano bishop.
This
proved once more that the Boholano clergy and
lay people are highly recognized owing to the
number of vocation to the priesthood and religious
life.

76,000
ha. rice land unplanted
SAN
FERNANDO CITY. Around 76,000 hectares of the more
than 301,000 hectares of rice land in the Ilocos
region have not been planted due to scanty rainfall
at this time of the year.
Edmund
Quiniz, regional rice coordinator and chief agriculturist
of the Department of Agriculture in Region 1,
said most of these unplanted agri lands are located
in Pangasinan, La Union and Ilocos Sur.

Charges
filed vs. abductor of teens

Charges
of abduction of minors were filed at the City Prosecutor's
Office Friday against the suspect in the kidnapping
of two teenage girls some five months ago.
The
two missing teenagers are identified as Shiella Kristine
Inguito, 14 years old, resident of Sta. Cruz, Baclayon
town and Mary Jane Aton, 13 years old, resident of Habitat
Village, barangay Bool, this city.

The
Postal Bank or Philippine Postal Savings Bank (PPSB)
has opened its doors for Boholano clientele following
the inauguration on July 27, 2007 of its 22nd branch
in the city.

is a thrift bank and a government financial institution
