SARCENO

A Boholano took a flight to history by scoring the second highest in the 2007 Philippine Aeronautical Engineering Licensure Examination given by the Board of Aeronautical Engineering (BAE) and the Professional Regulations Commission (PRC).

Second placer Vitto Paolo "Butch" Barrera Sarceno, whose "career objective" is to get a "challenging position by which I can effectively contribute my skills and theoretical knowledge to the aviation industry," is also reputedly the first Boholano ever to top and rate such high in a Philippine board exam for aviation.

The Antequeranhon graduate of the Philippine State College of Aeronautics (PSCA) in Pasay City rated 82.90, which ranked him the next highest among the only 36 board test passers. The first placer got 83.05.

A native of Poblacion in Antequera, Sarceno is a grandson of former Provincial Board Member Isabelito Tongco.

Sarceno and his fellow successful examinees took their Oath of Professional at the Bayview Park Hotel in Manila last night.

He has worked as a junior aircraft mechanic for the Lufthansa Technik Philippines.

Sarceno, now a highly-regarded member of the Society of Aerospace Engineers of the Philippines (SAEP), took the first four years of his course at the Philippine State College of Aeronautics at Mactan Airbase in Lapulapu City before finishing his final year at its sister school at the Villamor Airbase in Pasay City.

In his grade years, Sarceno transferred to the Holy Spirit School from Antequera Central Elementary School and then took his secondary education at the Tagbilaran City Campus of the Central Visayas State College of Agriculture, Forestry and Technology (CVSCAFT). (Ven Rebo Arigo)
