Lim, Cajes unopposed
in prov'l ABC, SK polls
By KIT BAGAIPO

LIM, CAJES

Two aspirants for the provincial presidency of the Liga ng mga Barangay and Federated Sangguniang Kabataan are virtually coming out unopposed.

The provincial Federated SK election is set tomorrow while the Liga ng mga Barangay will elect its officials on December 29.

Jean Censoria Cajes, daughter of second district Rep. Roberto Cajes and Trinidad Mayor Judith Cajes, is expected to replace her sister Frances Bobbith Cajes, the incumbent provincial federated president, as Jake Jala, a cousin of third district Rep. Adam Relson Jala has already backed out of the race.

Even with Jala's declaration to abandon the provincial federated SK, city SK president Rammy June Alturas announced his candidacy to challenge Cajes last night.

Since the provincial SK federation election is done via nomination, Cajes could be in for a surprise tomorrow as several mayors of the first district reportedly agreed to support Alturas, according to trusted aides of City Mayor Dan Lim who is supporting the candidacy of Alturas.

There were other names of municipal SK federated presidents who were planning to oppose the younger Cajes but also quit the race.

They were Rochelle Brigitte Imboy, daughter of Loay Mayor Mae Imboy and Kag. Brigido Imboy; Maria Fe Cadeliña, daughter of Bilar Mayor Fanuel Cadeliña; and Sandrina Schreurs, daughter of Garcia-Hernandez Mayor Myrna Schreurs.

Observers asked how can Cajes serve as SK provincial chairman when she is studying in an exclusive school in Metro Manila.

Meanwhile, former Board Member Concepcion Lim, who won as Liga president of Valencia will also be on smooth sailing as incumbent provincial Liga head Romulo Cepedoza has expressed willingness to take the vice presidency which was reportedly offered to him by Lim.

Cepedoza was reelected Liga president of Danao town but has admitted that he could not match the resources and the political clout of Lim and would rather accept the vice presidency of the league.

He became the Liga head after then president Cariso Camacho of Getafe died of a heart attack last year.

Lim's bid is aimed not only to regain a seat at the Sangguniang Panlungsod (she ended her third term as board member last June), but also to reclaim the position which was formerly held by her late brother, Renato Lim.

According to reports, Panglao Liga president Cirino Hormachuelos is also eyeing the provincial Liga presidency.

Before he ran for barangay captain, Hormachuelos was reelected for a third term as municipal councilor last May.

If unopposed, the ABC and SK provincial polls will not be "financially bloody" unlike past elections where massive vote buying and herding of electors to safe houses were noted a day before election.
