Tight watch on SK polls tom'row

The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) is closely watching Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairmen provincewide as they vote for their federated presidents tomorrow amid reports of kidnapping and vote-buying.

DILG provincial director Rustica Mascarinas said in an interview with the Chronicle yesterday that she has issued an order to all municipal local government operation officers (MLGOOs) to ensure that SK chairmen will not be herded by local politicians who have vested interests in the federated polls.

Better still are the criminals: they are arrested with warrants of arrest issued by the Courts before detention. In America, the Court ordered a suspect released because the cops chained him to his bed while they visited the judge to prepare the Warrant of Arrest.

Batasan blast suspect 'tortured'

MANILA. A party-list representative whose name has been linked to the explosion in the Batasan Pambansa earlier this month that killed a lawmaker and four other persons said the suspect who named him as the brains behind the attack had been tortured by police.
