In
response to the request of Gov. Erico B. Aumentado - National
President, League of Provinces of the Philippines and Union
of Local Authorities in the Philippines in his health program
for indigent Boholanos, a surgical mission will start today
Feb 19-23, through the courtesy of the Association of Filipino
Physicians of Southern Illinois and some Filipino and Foreign
physicians in California, Arizona, Virginia, Washington DC,
Florida headed by Dr. Renato Rivera, Dr. Juanito Aya-ay, Dr.
Tony Daquipa, and the University of Santo Tomas Medical Class
1964.
Fancy S. Baluyot, Consultant, Health and Social Services and
President/CEO, Philippine Gift of Life, Inc. advised that
as new Department of Health (DOH) policy, a team of physicians
from DOH and Philippine Academy of Medical Specialists (PAMS)
headed by it's Directors - Dr. Elmer Punzalan, Dr. Lemuel
Niño Pastor and PAMS President Dr. Renato Catan. Dr.
Federico A. Malubay - Chairman, Outreach Community Services
and Dr. Nicanor Escutin, PAMS treasurer will come and support
the team.

Provincial
Health Officer, Dr. Reymoses Cabagnot, advised that
the mission will be done at the Gov. Celestino Gallares
Memorial Hospital (GCGMH), thru Chief of hospital Dr.
Nenita Po and Dr. Mutya Macuno - surgical mission officer;
for cases as thyroid goiter, myoma, hysterectomy, cyst,
ovarian cyst, hernia, among others while at the Ramiro
Community Hospital cataract cases thru Dr. Ronald Ramiro
and harelip cases at the Borja Family Hospital thru
Dr. Melinda Borja.
The
team arrived last Feb. 16. The mission is being sponsored
by the Provincial Government of Bohol thru Governor
Erico B. Aumentado and Vice Governor Julius Caesar Herrera
supported by Congressman Edgar M. Chatto, Congressman
Roberto C. Cajes, Congressman Eladio M. Jala and Board
Member Dionisio Balite, League of Municipalities President
- Mayor Josephine Socorro Jumamoy and Association of
Municipal Health Officer of the Philippines (AMHOP)
President Arnold Cagulada and the local health committee
is headed by Mrs. Baluyot and Provincial Administrator
Atty. Tomas Abapo, Jr.
