Art exhibit opens

Oil and watercolor paintings on the themes of love, labor, and life fill the walls of Payag Restaurant for the month of February.

Love, Labor, Live, an exhibit of the works of some of the province's most popular visual artists and the Grand Old Lady of Boholano visual arts opened last Monday afternoon with an intimate ribbon-cutting and launching ceremony at the newly renovated Payag Restaurant.

Featuring the works of Glenn Lumantao, Joey Labrador, and Madame Hermogena "Ma'am Nene" Lungay, the exhibit will run until the 28th of the month.

In a program hosted by Fiel Angeli A. Gabin, Boholano artists, writers, musicians, art patrons, and cultural workers gathered for a get-together that appropriately celebrates February as the National Arts Month.

Among those present were Bohol Chamber of Commerce President Norris Oculam and lawyer Lucas "Doy" Nunag of Amarela.

Rosario Borja-Corales, a sister of Ma'am Nene and a former dean of the College of Arts and Sciences of the then Divine Word College of Tagbilaran (now Holy Name University), also graced the affair.

The exotic sounds of world music group Tadiyandi filled the venue, capturing the audience with evocative percussions and virtuoso guitar playing.
Cocktails followed the brief afternoon program.
