The
province of Bohol is attracting more prospects of, not
only more tourists, but also investments for as long
as peace and order reign.
Mike
Defensor, an administration bet for the Senate, issued
the statement during his campaign sortie and visit here
last Friday upon the invitation of Bohol officials.
The
former chief of staff of Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo
answered questions during the weekly Governor's Report
with Gov. Erico Aumentado at the governor's mansion
last Friday.
|
He
said that when insurgency is eradicated and peace and order
is in place, then there will be an atmosphere of confidence
for the investors to do business here. "I'm sure there
will be more investments coming to Bohol," he added.

Defensor,
who paid a courtesy call to Vice-Gov. Julius Caesar
Herrera and the Sangguniang Panlalawigan members after
the press conference, said that the owner of the high-end
Plantation Bay hotel and resort in Mactan, Cebu is impressed
of Bohol for its tourism investment.
Defensor quoted the Plantation Bay owner as saying that
the place to go to for tourism and investment now is
Bohol.
He
said the said owner is in fact looking for parcels of
land for a business. He did not specify what business
Plantation Bay is planning to put up, however.
|
"Bohol
now is a major destination" because, he said, he has
seen and observed a lot of foreigners coming in. And tourism
boom in Bohol has been augmented by infrastructure support
from the government especially the circumferential road network.
"Infrastructure
will be a major aspect of development in Bohol," he said.
In
the same vein, Aumentado also announced that the province
is earmarking funds to complete the concreting road project
along the Guildulman-Anda stretch.
Anda,
he said, should be developed because of its potentials in
tourism industry that would generate employment opportunities.
The town is blessed with natural beauty and white sand beaches.
