We
were at the ringside of the Cebu City Sports Complex last
Saturday evening when Manny Pacquiao made his way into the
venue of the so-called "Battle of Cebu" the major
boxing event so far this year.
When
the ring announcer made known Pacquiao's arrival, it was met
with a rousing "boo" from the crowd contrary to
published reports that his entry to the ringside was met with
mixed reactions.
In
fact, everytime his face is flashed on large TV monitors all
over the sports complex, the crowd readily booed him.

We
also overheard others shouting lustily "congressmane"
and similar sounding word, idem sonams.
The
Filipino boxing icon did not stay long in the complex perhaps
because of the rudeness being displayed by the crowd fully
aware of his plants, este, plans to run for congressman. Even
his handler, "Wakee" Salud was visibly disturbed
by the antagonistic attitude displayed by the Cebuano boxing
fanatics inside the complex that evening.
Thanks
God for the Philippines, you know.

However,
we were wondering why Atty. Romulo Macalintal was also there
that evening but we just keep it to our mind that the pro-GMA
election lawyer could perhaps but lured into boxing like us.
Certainly,
we were not surprised over the presence of Manila City Mayor
Lito Atienza who has been a regular personality during major
boxing events like the Battle of Cebu last Saturday.
We
only discovered the connection when Atty. Macalintal made
the stunning announcement last Monday that Pacquiao is backing
out from his congressional bid against re-electionist Rep.
Darlene Antonino Custodio of South Cotabato.

When
Pacquiao showed his interest for politics, he started with
the wrong notion of running for congressman in order to help
alleviate the lives of his people in General Santos City.
You
want to run for congressman to help the people? Please explain.
Mr. Pacquiao, a congressman is a legislator. You understand
what a legislator is?
Never
mind, a fourth grader like you and your brother Bobby, cannot
be blamed to have the wrong notion about politics. It's good
that you decided to stick it out with boxing.
We
shall keep watch of your next fight then.
