In
this issue this writer will be writing about mundane things.
First
on line is the time of the City of Tagbilaran. By time, this writer is referring
to the time of the clock. We cannot understand why we have different times in
the city. There
are different times for the private residences, radios, churches, schools, courts
and offices.
The
time for the radios is on time. The time for the churches is on time. The time
for the private residences, schools, courts and offices is advanced. Why do we
have different times? A possible reason for having advanced time is to be off
the office early. But what about people who want to be on time? In fact, they
have to go to a certain engagement ahead of time to be able to be present on time.

This
writer suggests that all private residences, radios, churches, schools, courts
and offices should have a synchronized time. It is easy to synchronize the different
times. What
the concerned parties should do is listen to the siren of the Coca Cola Plant
and adjust their times. For instance, when the Coca Cola blasts at 1 p.m., all
concerned parties should adjust their time at 1 p.m. Presto, we have all synchronized
time in the City of Tagbilaran.

The
standard time is the Greenwich time. This is the time of the meridian at Greenwich,
England, used as the basis for standard time throughout most of the world.

A
joke on time runs this way: There is an American time, Filipino time, and Indian
time. In the American time, the person comes on time; in the Filipino time, he
comes late; but in the Indian time, he never comes. Which time do you like?

Sometimes,
coming late would help. According to reports, some Filipinos were saved from the
World Center Towers bombing in New York when they arrived late in their work.
When they arrived late at the building, it was already bombed.
But
coming on time should be the order of the day. This should be the New Year's resolution
of those who are always late. You can save the time of other people who are also
busy.
Another
joke runs this way: When man was created, human beings were allowed to choose
their noses. There were noses to be taken at a certain place. There were long
noses and there were short noses. The Americans came on time. So they were able
to choose long noses. But the Filipinos came late. So, they were able to get short
noses which were left behind.

The
election period has started.
In
Metro Manila, the first to file their certificates of candidacy (CoCs) for senator
were lawyer Oliver Lozano and radio broadcaster Mel Chavez. Both filed their CoCs
under the Kilusang Bagong Lipunan (KBL), the party of the late strongman Ferdinand
Marcos.

In
Bohol, the first to file their CoCs were Mario "Marjun" Magat Jr. of
Mansasa, Tagbilaran City and Victoriano Inte of Camayaan, Loboc, Bohol.
Magat
seeks to run for governor of Bohol while Inte intends to run for congressman of
the Third District of Bohol.

The
prospect of declaring some areas in Bohol as "free zones" looms as some
mayoralty candidates are urging the governor to declare some areas as "free
zones."
In
the last 2004 elections, there were some areas which were declared as free zones
like Carmen, Bohol.
The
declaration of Third District of Bohol as "free zones" looms as some
candidates are not interested to participate in the convention.
There
is no problem with the United Opposition in the local level. The problem goes
to the Lakas CMD coalition.
In
Dimiao, Bohol, there were two factions under the ruling Lakas CMD coalition which
is composed of the Lakas CMD and the Kampi.
In
the City of Tagbilaran, there is Kampi headed by incumbent Mayor Dan Lim who claims
to be a card-bearing member of Kampi. There is also the Lakas CMD which is led
by former Mayor Jose V. Torralba. The United Opposition bet, retired Gen. Alberto
Olario is still uncontested as his name had already reached the Metro Manila headquarters.
The affiliation of Olario with the opposition came on the heels of reports than
the Nacionalista Party of Senate President Manny Villar in which Olario is inclined
to affiliate will be siding with the United Opposition (UNO).
The
PDP Laban under the United Opposition will be fielding at least four candidates
for city councilors, namely: City Councilors Edgar R. Bompat, former City Councilor
Felipe dela Torre Jr., and Cogon Barangay Kagawads Jeremias Pabe and Charles T.
Cabalit.
In
Dauis, Bohol, the Nationalist People's Coalition (NPC) will be fielding Victorio
Migriño as its candidate for mayor. The NPC as a party has allowed its
party-mates to run either in the Administration or Opposition camp.
