DENR Sec. Reyes:
"No compromise"
 

There will be no compromise whatsoever on environmental destructions, declared DENR Sec. Angelo T. Reyes yesterday as he vowed to strictly implement the laws to protect Mother Earth.

This was the stern warning issued by Sec. Reyes after complaints on alleged environmental destructions happening in the province, particularly at the ongoing construction of a resort in barangay Tawala, Panglao town.

More suspensions,
dismissals - DILG

MANILA. The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) yesterday revealed that more suspension and dismissal orders may be served on local government executives before the end of the election season.

Interior Secretary Ronaldo Puno said that aside from suspension and dismissal orders already served by the DILG, he is awaiting Ombudsman Merceditas Gutierrez's ruling on cases filed against hundreds of other local officials.

 Dumaluan steps down; Fuertes sworn as mayor

Panglao Mayor Doloreich Dumaluan was finally served his 6-month suspension as Vice Mayor Pedro Fuertes was immediately sworn in to assume as municipal mayor by Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Assistant Regional Director Pedro Noval 11 a.m. last Tuesday.

Moments after service of the suspension order, Dumaluan rushed to Cebu City with lead counsel, Atty. Victor dela Serna to file a petition at the Court of Appeals (CA) Visayas for a temporary restraining order (TRO).
