A
heart surgical mission, the third biggest in the province,
will be one of the main highlights during the 153rd Bohol
Day Anniversary.
A
team of surgeons from the Philippine Heart Center (PHC) headed
by Dr. Ludgerio D. Torres and Heart Foundation of the Philippines
(HFP) through Dr. Francisco Dizon will in the province to
spearhead the mission slated July 21-28, 2007.

Hospital thru chief of hospital, Dr. Nenita Moraga-Po. This
great humanitarian endeavor is through the request and efforts
of Gov. Erico B. Aumentado.
The
third biggest heart operation in the province sponsored by
the Provincial Government of Bohol thru Gov. Erico B. Aumentado
and Vice Gov. Julius Caesar F. Herrera and the Philippine
Amusement and Gaming Corporation thru Honorable chairman/CEO
Ephraim C. Genuino supported by the Philippine Gift of Life
thru president/CEO, Fancy S. Baluyot and vice president, Rev.
Fr. Victor Bompat; Home Reach Foundation thru its chairman,
Dr. Pepe Recitas, co-chairman, Dr. Ramie Cadag, and director,
Richard Uy; Hildegardeans '89 thru its president, Joseph S.
Alagon; Cong. Edgar Chatto, Cong. Roberto Cajes and Congressman-elect
Adam Jala; coordinated by the Department of Health thru secretary,
Dr. Francisco Duque III; the Philippine Academy of Medical
Specialists (PAMS) thru its president, Dr. Rene Catan, chairman
for Outreach Programs, Dr. Federico Malubay, PAMS Bohol chapter
president, Dr. Herbert Relampagos and the Tagbilaran City
Host Lions Club thru Dr. Eufemia Cabagnot. Now on its final
phase of preparations as advised by Fancy S. Baluyot who is
also the consultant for health and social services. More than
30 qualified heart patients are expected to benefit the free
surgeries. Each operation, including medicine, could cost
a heart patient a little less than a million pesos if paid.

Other
services to be given are free ECG and 2D Echo examinations
and an Advanced Cardiac Life Support Study to be conducted
by Cardiovascular Surgeons, Cardiologists, Internists,
etc. headed by HFP president, Dr. Francisco Dizon coordinated
by the Philippine Academy of Medical Specialist, Bohol
Chapter thru its president, Dr. Herbert Relampagos and
treasurer, Dr. Edgar Pizarras; Provincial Health officer
Dr. Reymoses Cabagnot.
Provincial
administrator Atty. Tomas D. Abapo Jr. advised that
the first and second operations were also done in Bohol
in 2003 and 2005 respectively with beneficiaries coming
from city and the province while the rest from Mindanao
and other parts of the Visayas.

Boholanos
will once again be astounded by the arrival of high tech hospital
equipments from the Philippine Heart Center, Manila at the
Tagbilaran City airport courtesy of the Philippine Air Force's
C-130 plane through the efforts of Lt. Gen. Horacio S. Tolentino
and Lt. Col. Ramon Ruiz and a rare chance to see the conduct
of the surgery live on a TV screen which will placed at a
designated area at the provincial hospital for interested
individuals, especially loved ones of the heart patients.
The
Philippine Gift of Life officers and members is composed of
