By DAVID S. MAULAS

GRAND FINALE. Photo shows the 2006 blood compact reenactment that capped the month-long celebration.

Artistically choreographed groups and well-fashioned floats will parade on July 22 along the main thoroughfares of the city for the Sandugo Street Dancing Extravaganza.

Anchored on the theme "Pakigsandurot sa Kinaiyang Bol-anon," this year's edition centers on the participation of the local community. Participants may come from municipal government units, socio-civic organizations, learning institutions, business establish-ments and families/clans in a non-contest setting.

Participating contingents and floats assemble at Janseen Hts. corner J.A. Clarin Street, then proceed to CPG Avenue - Tamblot - Torralba Street, entering the back gate of the CPG Sports Complex. Jump-off time is at 9:30 a.m.

Field performance of participating contingents is held at the CPG Sports Complex oval. A brief program precedes the performance.

Special awards such as Best in Choreography, Most Creative/Unique Group, Best in Production Design, Best in Costume, Most Authentic Group, Best in Music, Best in Instrumentation, etc. are to be given.

Initial list of street dancing participants include LGUs of Baclayon and Tubigon; city elementary schools - Bool, Booy Main, Booy South, Cabawan, City East, Cogon Main, Dampas, Dao, Eastern Cogon, Manga, Mansasa, San Isidro, St. Therese, City Central, Taloto, Tiptip, and Ubujan; and city secondary schools - University of Bohol, Cogon Night, Dr. Cecilio Putong, Holy Infant Academy, Holy Name University-HS, Mansasa High, Manga, San Isidro, and Tagbilaran City Science High and tertiary schools such as the University of Bohol.

The scheme of involving the city schools started last year thru the efforts of Dr. Elpidio Jala coordinated by Carmen Gatal and Joseph Barrete.

Confirmed to set up floats are Island City Mall, Bohol Quality Mall, M. Lhuillier Pawnshop, Social Security System-Tagbilaran and Bohol Association of Metro Manila, Inc. (BAMMI) and Bohol Association of Hotels, Resorts, and Restaurants (BAHRR).

ADDED ACTIVITIES

Immediately after the field performance is the theatrical reenactment of the Blood Compact dubbed "Sandugo Oracles." The success, both in artistic impact and public demand, on its piloting version last year prompted the organizers to redo its performance. This is directed and choreographed by highly acclaimed artist, Lutgardo Labad.

The "Battle of the Bands" grand finals, with a renowned band from Manila as guest, caps the whole-day festivity.

At the helm of the preparation is City Mayor Dan Neri Lim, BSFI Chairman, Loreto M. Palapos, executive director. Major Sponsors are San Miguel Beer Corporation, Chowking, Pepsi-Cola and Nature's Spring.
