"Bu-ak"
rob leader arrested in Carmen
By:
KIT BAGAIPO
An
alleged leader of the notorious "Bu-ak" gang
held responsible for slays and robbery hold-ups in the
interior and northern towns in the province was arrested
by operatives of the Bohol Police Provincial Office
(BPPO) last Wednesday in barangay Calatrava, Carmen
town.
The arresting team, led by Supt. Clarito Baja, nabbed
Leo Remorosa, 45, resident of barangay Calatrava, of
said town, believed to
|
be
the brains behind murders and highway robberies in the towns
of Sagbayan, Carmen, Clarin, Dagohoy and other towns in the
3rd district.
According
to Bohol PNP Director SSupt. Edgardo Ingking, during an interview
with the Chronicle, Remorosa is "a recognized godfather
of robbers in the province."
|
|
|
Remorosa,
who reportedly replaced former "Bu-ak" leader
Diosdado Fojas, was in his residence when police made
the arrest.
The
arrest was made by virtue of a search warrant issued
by Regional Trial Court (RTC) Executive Judge Fernando
Fuentes III.
Remorosa
was found in possession of a hand grenade, which was
one of the objects of the warrant. He is reportedly
supplying firearms to robbers here in the province,
according to Ingking.
|
The
suspected "Bu-ak" leader is presently detained at
Camp Dagohoy while charges of illegal possession of explosive
was filed against him last Thursday at the Provincial Prosecutor's
Office.
In
an interview with the Chronicle yesterday, however, Remorosa
denied he is a member of the notorious robbery group.
He
likewise denied he was in possession of a grenade when police
arrested him Wednesday.
