As
of yesterday, we learned that there are more and more councilors
who are vying for the presidency of the Philippine Councilors
League (PCL) in Bohol after we floated our bid to challenge
incumbent PCL Pres. Boy Imboy who is reportedly seeking to
be re-elected as PCL president after almost two years in hibernation.
Aside
from Garcia-Hernandez Kagawad Tita Gallentes, other names
also surfaced as among the possible contenders. They include
the wife of Mayor Juanario Item of Talibon, Panglao Kagawad
Vencenzio Arcamo and Batuan Kagawad Antonino Jumawid Jr. Even
my fellow city councilor Edi Borja is also toying with the
idea.
Anybody else? The more, the merrier.

SP
UPDATES. The 9th Sangguniang Panlungsod of Tagbilaran held
its regular session last Wednesday led by Vice-Mayor Nuevas
T. Montes.
There
was no major piece of legislation being passed but the city
lawmakers approved the renewal of franchises of 50 motorcycle
units and resolutions expressing condolence to the families
of the late City Councilor Margarito Lim, Yoyoy Villame and
Gabriel Sarmiento, a former city SP employee.
We
raised the issue on the terminal fee hike being halted by
a temporary restraining order at the instance of City Mayor
Dan Lim. The city councilors will decide on Wednesday whether
to support the move or not.

INBOX.
Here's a reaction from one John Paul Dehing on our discussion
about the buy-back of the twin public utilities: "I don't
know why every election this topic is always on the air. Even
though the governor is a very powerful politician, he has
done nothing about it and his term is ending. A fairy tale
in the making.
If
this buy back will not prosper my town will suffer because
we have a large debt to Bohol Waters. This can be solved only
if the mayor will renegotiate with Bohol Waters the terms
and conditions in the MOA. But how can he do that where in
fact he is on Bohol Waters side. And this problem does not
concern the City of Tagbilaran, does it?
But,
what if Bohol Waters decide to cut the water of our town,
what will happen? Our only hope here is that the buy back
must succeed. Or else, all is lost forever."

Fiesta time is still very much present. Today, Manga will
be marking its annual fiesta. On June 12, Ubujan will be marking
its annual festivity too. Diet has become such a lonely word
for more than a month now
