GIVE TO CESAR WHAT IS DUE TO CESAR
(Part II)

Late last year, we also had a column with the same title when Police Chief Inspector Jacinto Cesar, a native of Loay town, assumed as the new city police chief in Tagbilaran.

It was a time when the city police force was placed under the leadership of a police inspector even if under the PNP guidelines, the city chief of police must hold the rank of at least a chief inspector which is equivalent to the rank of a major in the armed forces.

Cesar's designation also came at a time when the city and Loay town were landlocked in the Blood Compact controversy.

We come up with Part II of the same title for today's issue because our impeccable source from Manila said Boholano actor Cesar Montano will decide today whether he drops his senatorial bid and run for governor instead.

Local broadcasters are salivating over the report for the last two days now as Cesar's gubernatorial bid will definitely add color and excitement in the May 14 elections.

Until today, Gov. Erico B. Aumentado remains uncontested in his re-election bid for want of any serious challenger other than Jun Magat and Peter Peligrino.

But first thing first, how come we have this possibility of Cesar running for governor instead of pursuing his senatorial bid?

It maybe recalled that before his entry into the senatorial line-up of Team Unity, Cesar's name was already floated as among the gubernatorial aspirants for the May 14 polls in Bohol.

In fact, it was the Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines (ULAP) headed by Aumentado who endorsed Cesar to replace Gov. Danny Petilla in the administration's senatorial line-up. Reports said Cesar's entry in Team Unity was Aumentado's handiwork although the governor had consistently belied this report.

According to our source, Cesar's concession was for the administration to bankroll his candidacy as he is losing multi-million contracts being in the senatorial line-up including a pay back to companies which products he endorsed in commercials like TM and 555 Sardines among others.

The commercials could not be shown during the entire senatorial campaign period pursuant to the existing election laws. So the companies are asking Cesar for refund.

Apparently, the promised money did not materialize until last week prompting Cesar to disappear from several Team Unity campaign outings.

Probably to hasten the release of the promised administration funds committed by Gabriel Claudio, Cesar dropped hints of nixing his senatorial bid and run for Bohol governor instead in order for Aumentado to kick Claudio's ass and release the funds quickly.

Otherwise, it will be the re-electionist governor perspiring as Cesar's gubernatorial bid could spark a serious contender of the administration bets in all levels. For one, congressionables Rene Relampagos in the third district and Victor dela Serna of the first district will be too willing to be in Cesar's saddle. Others will definitely follow prompting Aumentado's camp to pack up their boys with enough electoral battle materiel.

So guys, before everything else gets hard, and exciting, as the March 29 deadline draws near, you better give to Cesar what is due to Cesar. Quick.
