Three bolt Joe's slate

Three incumbent city councilors of the Lakas-CMD together with Vice Mayor Nuevas Tirol-Montes announced yesterday that they will be running alongside City Mayor Dan Lim in the May elections.

The announcement, which was made by Montes during the weekly "Mayor's Report" over dyRD, was welcomed by Mayor Lim even as it surprised him since Montes had earlier indicated to declare their move next Saturday.

nursing board passers

MANILA.- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Association of Deans of Philippine Colleges of Nursing (ADPCN) on Saturday agreed to provide free one-week special review sessions to any of the 17,000 June 2006 nursing board passers who would choose to take tests 3 and 5.

The partial retake was suggested by the United States' Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) after it decided that it won't issue VisaScreen certificates to those who took and passed what it called the "compromised" June 2006 nursing licensure exam.

  3 dads stick with Joe, with six newcomers

Former City Mayor Joe Torralba who is bent on capturing back the city hall officialdom is slated to officially announce this week the revised list of his slate following the defection of three incumbent kagawads to Mayor Dan Lim's camp.

During a meeting at his residence yesterday, six neophytes were confirmed to be included in Torralba's slate, namely: Veviano Inting, Mariquit Oppus, Jerry Pabe, and Charles Cabalit. The names of radio commentator Barangay Kagawad Roberto "Batchoy" Alba, Jayvee Bullecer and former City Kagawad Jun Mendez also surfaced as probable choices in the slate.

Aside from being a prime tourist destination, Bohol is now becoming a favorite venue for national conventions.

The Philippine Association of Research Managers, Inc. (PHILARM) will hold its 17th National Convention, March 20 to 23, 2007 at the Bohol Cultural Center, this city with the theme "Networking and Linkaging for Dynamic and Productive RDE Resource Generation."

That is the state of the nation today - politics without conviction, politicians without principles. This is a result of the death of the two-party system - unlike the vibrant days of the Nacionalista Party and Liberal Party. It was front-page news, a major event for a politician to bolt a party, then. What about now?

IT'S FINAL. City Mayor Dan Lim and Vice Mayor Jas Montes interviewed over dyRD by anchorman Fred Araneta yesterday to officially announce their team-up for the May polls. Confirmed to bolt from former Mayor Joe Torralba's camp are (l-r) incumbent Kagawads Oscar Glovasa, Danilo Bantugan and Macky Olario, with Kagawads Edgar Bompat and Edgar Kapirig. The five remaining slots will be decided this week.
