Rob suspect falls

Notorious robbery suspect Ian Bautista, tagged for several hold-upping incidents here in the city and in the towns was finally captured by police operatives in barangay La Suerte, Pilar town last Monday.

Bautista, 28, a native of barangay Cogtong, Candijay town carries a P100,000 reward. He had a standing warrant of arrest issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 49 for the mid-day hold-upping of the Florencio Lim Caltex Station, this city last December 2006.

  Our Editorial weeks ago pounced on global warning as it threatens water supply and civilization itself. In less than 50 years, we could have a modern-day tamer version of the deluge in Noah's time.

Only this time, we cannot put 5 billion people in one boat or space ship. We have the deal with the killer blows within our own territories. Al Gore's documentary on the environmental crisis called "The Inconvenient Truth" should disturb us inconveniently.

Database for rights
cases, political slays

MANILA.- The Commission on Human Rights (CHR) said yesterday it had perfected a database that would help the government fast-track its efforts to solve the extrajudicial killings in the country.

Called the "Martus" -- a Greek word for witness - database, the web-based system is expected to assist the CHR in accurately collecting and collating information from its 15 regional offices about the murders.
