
SURVEY LEADERS. Gov. Erico Aumentado

excellent ratings during the latest Bohol Poll which generate
quick forcasts of their victories come elections on Monday.

Re-electionists
Gov. Erico Aumentado and City Mayor Dan Lim both lead
in the pre-election round of the Holy Name University-Research
Center "Bohol Poll 2007" which was released
Friday with results for congressional district representatives,
vice governor, district board members and city vice
mayor.
Gov.
Aumentado enjoys an outstanding lead with 87% against
other gubernatorial bets Bobby Cericos (2%), Renato
Dalay (3%) and Marjun Magat (1%).
Mayor
Lim, on the other hand, obtained 56% over former mayor
Joe Torralba's 30%. Some 14% of the respondents did
not answer the survey.

Voters
of both Lim and Torralba say they have made up their mind
on whom to vote for on Monday's polls.
Meanwhile,
Vice Gov. Julius Caesar Herrera, who is running for his third
term with Gov. Aumentado, also leads his challenger Godofreda
Tirol. Herrera garnered 62% over Tirol's 30%.

To
note, both Herrera and Tirol enjoy the same level of
commitment from their voters.
For
the city vice mayoralty race, incumbent Vice Mayor Nuevas
Tirol-Montes, running for her second term, also leads
challenger Jose Antonio Veloso. Montes got 56% against
Veloso's 32%.
It
is also significant to note that Montes enjoys a high
94% commitment from those who said will vote for her.
In fact, her level of commitment from supporters is
the highest among all the candidates included in the
survey.

The
margin of error for the gubernatorial and vice gubernatorial
survey is +/-5 while the margin of error for Tagbilaran City,
District 1 (excluding Tagbilaran), District 2 and District
3 is +/-10.
For
the 1st district's provincial board candidates' survey, the
margin of error is +/-7.
CONGRESSIONAL
RACE
As
expected, there is a tight race for the 3rd district's congressional
seat and the race for provincial board members in the three
congressional districts.
The
survey, conducted from April 24 to May 6, showed that 3rd
district congressional aspirants Adam Relson Jala and former
Gov. Rene Relampagos are "statistically tied".
Jala
garnered 41% while Relampagos obtained 25%.
However,
with an error margin of +/- 10, the district's congressional
seat could either go to Jala or Relampagos.
Not
far behind the two are Senior Board Member Dionisio Balite
with 17% and lawyer Alexander Lim with 11%.
A
total of 400 respondent-voters were randomly selected for
the survey witth 100 respondents each for the 2nd and 3rd
congressional districts while 100 were also selected from
Tagbilaran City and another 100 for the rest of the 1st district
(excluding Tagbilaran).
In
the first district's congressional battle, re-electionist
Rep. Edgar Chatto takes a lead, with 84%, over his vocal critic
lawyer Victor dela Serna who obtained 8%.
Likewise,
re-electionist Rep. Roberto Cajes has a significant lead with
86% over his challenger, Wenceslao Garcia who obtained only
4% of voters' preference in the second congressional district.
BM'S
RACE
In
the first district's race for board member, all four aspirants
are statistically tied. They are vying for the district's
three provincial board slots.
Re-electionist
Board Members Felix Uy and Jose Veloso gained 54% and 48%,
respectively while Loon Mayor Yul Lopez has 40% and newcomer
Alfonso "Ae" Damalerio has 46%.
Meanwhile,
in the second district, Inabanga Mayor Josephine Jumamoy (71%)
is tied with re-electionist Board Member Amalia Tirol while
incumbent Board Member Ma. Fe Camacho-Lejos (44%) is tied
with Eliseo Boyles Sr. (24%). The second district also has
three slots in the provincial board.
Finally,
the four provincial board slots in the third district is closely
contested by re-electionist Board Member Corazon Galbreath
(45%), Mario Balbin (33%), Bienvinido Molina (37%), Aster
Piollo (26%), Edgar Tac-an (26%) and Carmen Vice Mayor Josil
Trabajo (29%).
Lawyers
Artemio Cabatos and Salvador Diputado scored at 21% and 10%,
respectively while Petronilo Sarigumba has 5%.
VOTING
ATTITUDES
Nine
out of ten Boholano voters trusts that the Comelec can hold
a clean and orderly elections, according to the Bohol Poll
survey.
Three-fourths
(77%) of Boholano voters said they will "vote according
to their conscience" while 2 out of 10 (22%0 will "vote
for the one whom they think will win."
Seven
out of ten of respondent-voters also said that they "will
decide for themselves on whom to vote for" as against
27% who said they will vote on whom their leaders will tell
them to vote for.
Moreover,
an overwhelming majority (96%) of the Boholano voters believe
that "whether or not the candidate is popular, they will
vote for the candidate with view closest to theirs."
Very few (4%) believe that "because the candidate whom
they like best is not too popular, they will vote for the
other just to help defeat the candidate they dislike."
