"Carto" sketch of holdupper out
By: KIT BAGAIPO

The Tagbilaran City PNP released yesterday the cartographic sketch of one of the suspects in the broad daylight hold-upping of an Island City Mall cashier last Tuesday.

The sketch was generated by a cartographer of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) based on the description given by the cashier, identified as one Victoria Limocon y Tagsa, 27, resident of Mahayag Norte, Catigbian town.

Some facial characteristics could not, however, be recognized as the suspect was wearing a cap and sunglasses.

He was described to be of medium build with fair complexion, between 30 to 35 years old, 5' 4" or 5' 5" in height.

Limocon, together with escort security guards Albert Micabani y Araula, 25, and Frejun Gonzaga y Sedello, have just withdrawn P308,269 from the mall's cash section at around 9 a.m. They were on their way to the office of NICO Security Agency, just within the mall's vicinity, to deliver the said cash when two armed men poked guns at them declaring a hold-up.

The suspects forcibly grabbed the cashier's bag containing the amount that was supposed to be paid out in salaries to the mall's security personnel which is contracted by NICO.

The two security escorts, also belonging to NICO, made an attempt to chase the two armed suspects but were fired upon, forcing the two guards to retreat.

According to the security escorts, the two hold-uppers, armed with .45 caliber pistols, fired on them twice but missed. Slugs were recovered by police at the crime scene.

The two suspects reportedly escaped going towards the Integrated Bus Terminal using their getaway vehicle, a red Honda XRM, that was parked near Bo's Coffee Club at ICM.

Checkpoints deployed in the city's exits failed to corner the two hold-uppers.

Acting City PNP chief Supt. Abner Catalla, in an interview with the Chronicle last Wednesday, said that investigators are questioning the two escort guards who failed to respond immediately, despite having their own firearms.

Moreover, according to police, there were 8 other security guards close to the area where the incident happened and 30 others more around the mall's complex.
