To
those who missed our column last Wednesday, we wish to inform
our dear readers that we were back in the saddle already.
At
any rate, we reiterate our thanks to those who supported our
cause.
We
also went on the air during the afternoon edition of "Inyong
Alagad" program yesterday anchored by our billiard buddy,
Fred Araneta, to thank our supporters and symphatizers in
our last re-election bid as city councilor of Tagbilaran.
We
likewise caused the publication of a separate message of gratitude
found elsewhere in this issue.

We
seldom use this corner to advance our political agenda. In
fact, we tried hard not to discuss political issues which
involves our political career lest we be misunderstood of
using a home court advantage in our column.
But
this one is an exception as we made public our availability
to seek the presidency of the Philippine Councilors League
(PCL) in Bohol in our third and final term as city legislator.
The
position is currently being held by Loay Kagawad Boy Imboy,
a very good friend, who was also re-elected as municipal councilor
in his town.

The
first PCL president in Bohol was George Lao who was then city
councilor. In fact, we served as the PCL executive director
during its inception in the province being Lao's legislative
chief of staff in the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.
During
our first and second term as city councilor, we just stayed
in the sidelines as we supported the late Yves Yu, outgoing
City Councilor Urbano Lagunay and Imboy in their PCL bids.
In
our third and final term as city councilor, it is our humble
belief that we are now ready to lead PCL Bohol.

At
any rate, while the PCL election is still three months away,
we have started doing our homework already by initially consulting
and getting the support of senior city and provincial political
leaders.
We
shall go full blast in our bid as soon as the new set of municipal
and city councilors assume office on June 30.
As
they say, early bird catches worm.

We
commend the organizers of the 4th annual reunion of Dekada
'80 which started yesterday afternoon at Saya's Restaurant.
The
gathering will culminate today in a Panglao beach resort.
Dekada
'80 is a group of former militants and student activists during
the height of the Marcos dictatorship. We wish to extend our
solidarity greetings and support to Dekada '80!
