Five
Bohol towns that delivered a 12-0 vote for the administration's
Team Unity (TU) senatorial slate will each get P2-million
worth of projects as a "reward" from Malacañang.
This
announcement was made by Gov. Erico Aumentado in front of
47 town mayors gathered during an assembly of the League of
Municipalities of the Philippines - Bohol Chapter last Friday
at the Governor's Mansion.
Meanwhile,
five other towns where TU scored 11 to 1 will also be receiving
P100,000 worth of projects from the government.
Aumentado,
president of the Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines
and the League of Provinces of the Philippines (ULAP-LPP),
relayed Pres. Arroyo's gratitude to the ten town mayors who
were able to muster support for TU.

The
five towns where all 12 senatorial bets of TU landed
in the Magic 12 are Buenavista, Valencia, Danao, Dagohoy
and Getafe.
The
towns of Balilihan, Antequera, Sagbayan, Lila and Sierra
Bullones supported 11 of Team Unity's bets.
According
to Aumentado, he is awaiting the release of project
funds from Malacañang after sending a Comelec
certified copy of final tabulations in the senatorial
race from the 10 towns where administration senatorial
bets obtained overwhelming support.

Days
before the elections, the governor was optimistic and gave
a prediction that 12 towns could carry his marching orders
for an all-out support to the Team Unity bets.
In
fact, Aumentado wrote a letter to the mayors who are allied
with the Team Unity coalition to show gratitude to Pres. Arroyo
for the many projects in the province that she funded by giving
her senators that would likewise back her programs.
A
similar letter was sent by Aumentado to the members of ULAP
and LPP after the organization adopted a resolution reaffirming
their stand behind the Team Unity senatoriables.
Danao
Mayor Louis Gonzaga told the Chronicle yesterday that he did
not expect his constituents could deliver a TU sweep in the
polls. He, however, urged townmates to vote for the administration
senatorial bets adhering to the governor's appeal.
MAYORS'
PROJECTS
All
five mayors said they are happy that their constituents supported
their call for a 12-0 shutout.
They
likewise expressed gratitude for the president's reward while
they already have identified specific projects and beneficiaries
of the P2-million grant from Malacañang.
In
an interview with the Chronicle yesterday, Danao Mayor Louis
Gonzaga said he will include the P2-million for his town's
organic vegetable production and eco-tourism program, which
he views as major sources of livelihood in Danao.
Getafe
Mayor Theresa Camacho, on the other hand said she will commit
the reward to livelihood projects in her town's island barangays.
For
her part, Mayor Henrietta Gan of Valencia told the Chronicle
that an ongoing fishport improvement project, which is almost
finished, will hopefully be completed with the P2-million
fund.
7-4-1
VOTING
While
Bohol is widely perceived as an administration bailiwick,
the governor's efforts to marshal majority of the 48 mayors
to back Team Unity, did not yield as much as a 7-4-1 score
for TU, Genuine Opposition and a lone independent who landed
in the Magic 12.
Boholano
movie actor Cesar Montano (369,807 votes) topped 6 other TU
candidates after final tabulations were made official by the
Comelec last week.
Following
Montano is Rep. Prospero Pichay with 254,764 votes, Sen. Edgardo
Angara (238, 401), Rep. Miguel Zubiri (214,146) and Sen, Joker
Arroyo (203,233).
Loren
Legarda (201,214) came in 6th place followed by reelectionists
Sen. Ralph Recto (198,815) and Sen. Manuel Villar (196,355).
Rounding
up the 9th to 12th spot are Mike Defensor 190,919, Francis
Pangilinan (184,261), Francis Escudero (170,869) and Noynoy
Aquino (163,648).
It
can be noted that Team Unity occupied the first five slots.
Legarda,
who is topping the national tabulations, placed sixth while
her fellow GO frontrunners Villar and Escudero are on the
8th and 11th place, respectively.
