For
starters, we wish to express our profound gratitude to those
who sent us congratulatory messages through text messages,
e-mails and Friendster.
We
are not resting in those laurels yet because we are still
facing another political battle in our bid for the presidency
of the Philippine Councilors League (PCL) in our third and
final term as city councilor.
The
words of wisdom from City Mayor Dan Neri Lim will boost our
adrenalin as we continue to gather the support of our top
political leaders in the province as well as from our fellow
councilors in Bohol.

Frankly
speaking, we do not have the much-needed political material
in our bid for the PCL presidency as of the moment.
But
we expect to generate the same through hard work and sincere
dedication as key municipal councilors from the three congressional
districts of the province already sent feelers supporting
our bid.
Immediately
after June 30, we shall announce our complete line up for
the forthcoming PCL elections which we do not expect to be
conducted fair and square after all.
However,
we are prepared for a worst-case scenario without compromising
our bid.

City
residents were glad to hear Mayor Dan Neri Lim once again
in his radio program "Mayor's Report" yesterday
morning over Station DYRD.
Many
thought that after his re-election, the city mayor will no
longer continue with his radio program for one reason or another.
His two-hour radio broadcast yesterday has proven his critics
wrong.
While
he may be off the air for the next three Saturdays, we expect
the feisty city mayor to be back with his guns blazing.

Meanwhile,
we congratulate City Councilor Macky Olario who will be acting
as the city mayor's consultant on barangay affairs starting
July 1.
Olario's
designation is part of Lim's paradigm shift from "One
City, One Family" concept into something that will make
the city mayor hands on when it comes to barangay affairs.
The
last political exercise must have dealt him with bitter lessons
that lead to his change of political strategy in running the
affairs of the city.

What
happens to the so-called buy-back deal now? The city mayor
was asking yesterday. We second the motion.
The
best person to answer the question is Gov. Erico Aumentado
himself who is the main proponent of the deal to buy back
the twin public utilities formerly owned by the provincial
government which are now in the hands of Salcon. Quo vaids,
governor?
In
the meantime, the impending hike in water and power rates
continue to hang like the Sword of Damocles over the heads
of every city power and water consumers.
