Baclayon marks 411th
Foundation Day, top

  The historic coastal town of Baclayon will mark her 411th Foundation Day on Saturday by giving recognition to the town's most illustrious sons during a Cultural Night set at 7 p.m. at Baluarte, the town's reclamation area.

Mayor Alvin J. Uy and Vice Mayor Bobsie Uy will present the awards to: Former Mayor Felix Uy, Former Mayor Benecio Uy, Former Vice Mayor Joel Oppus, Dr. Juanito Aya-ay, Hans Schoof, movie actor/director Cesar Montano, Prof. CXeasar Saloma, Prof. Czarina Saloma, Paldo Mangyao and Grocian Mendez Sr.

   

The town will likewise formalize the adoption of Beatriz Zobel de Ayala as adopted daughter and Joel Ulchico as adopted son.

Kagawad Joseph Cañete, author of the "Foundation Day celebration" will read a brief narrative on the history of Baclayon.

The weeklong pre-foundation day festivity started last Sunday with a Food Festival. A handicrafts Day followed and a Broa Festival yesterday.

Pastries Day and Ubi Festival will highlight today's activities, The Bahandi Cultural Night is scheduled tomorrow while a Daygon contest is set on Friday.

The 411th Foundation Day will kick off with a thanksgiving mass at the centuries-old Baclayon Church where the newly elected barangay and SK officials will take their oath.

A colorful street dancing (Baclayon version) will start at 9 in the morning while novelty games will start at 11 a.m.
