Three RP jins off
to Hanoi

 

Three battle-ready Filipino jins shoot for slots in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games when they complete in the Asian qualifying on Nov. 28-30 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

All members of the Smart/Petron national taekwando team, the three are Alexander Briones, Kirstie Elaine Alora and Mary Antoinette Rivera.

   

According to Philippine Taekwando Association president Robert N. Aventajado, Briones will compete in the men's under 80 kilogram category, while Alora and Rivero will action in the women's under 57 and under 67 kilograms levels, respectively.

Briones, Alora and Rivero will try to join the first Filipino Beijing Olympics qualifier, Tshomlee Go, who is also making the trip to Vietnam as trainer.

The Filipinos will vie for Olympic berth against athletes from 40 Asian countries like Chinese-Taipei, Japan and Iran.

The Filipinos' campaign supported by Smart Communication, PLDT, Petron and Philippine Sports Commission.
