P1.4-B irri dam talks tom'row

Farmers questioning the alleged "overpriced and anomalous" irrigation projects here will not stop seeking redress in the failed P1.4-billion Malinao Dam which has not irrigated their farmlands until today.

This, as militant farmers group Humabol (Hugpong sa mga Mag-uumang Bol-anon) will stage a protest rally and dialogue with the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) and local officials tomorrow in Pilar town to resolve complaints of some 1,363 farmland owners that are supposedly beneficiaries of the Bohol Irrigation Project Stage-1 (BHIP-1).

The Chronicle speaks with one voice with 92% of surveyed Boholanos in calling for the abolition of the Sangguniang Kabataan. The entity has become as

useless as a refrigerator in hell and has led the youth towards the Road of Perdition.

Infamously, the SK's performance in youth or community projects is as dismal as the Philippine sporting record in the Olympics - a few medals and far between. It is as inutile as Projects deemed "white elephants" - expensive to create and maintain but neglectful of the youth

Muslims laud Macarambon's appointment

A Muslim judge and a former gubernatorial candidate in Mindanao province yesterday lauded the appointment of Moslemen Macarambon Sr. to the Commission on Elections.

Court of Appeals Justice Hakim Abdulwahid described Macarambon's appointment as proof of the Arroyo administration's policy to give qualified Muslims a chance to serve in the government.

A municipal trial court judge was dismissed by the Supreme Court (SC) for making sexual advances and committing lascivious acts against two women in a public place.

The high tribunal, in an en banc ruling, found Judge Manuel de Castro of the Municipal Circuit Trial Court (MCTC) of Jagna and Garcia-Hernandez, guilty of gross misconduct and immorality.

18 schools in showdown

The best drum and bugle corps in the region will clash once again for the respective crowns in the three categories of the Alturas Drum & Bugle Corps Showdown 2007, scheduled at the CPG Sports Complex this coming November 24.

Alturas PR Manager and Showdown Project Director, Loy M. Palapos, said that the competition is contested in three categories: Category A for more seasoned drum corps most of which are outside Bohol; and Category B and C for high school and elementary drum corps, respectively.
