A
re-electionist barangay captain here was shot dead by a still
unidentified gunman riding in tandem a motorcycle 2 p.m. Sunday.
The
victim, identified as Ramon Autida y Boncales, 30, the incumbent
barangay captain of Camili-an, Ubay, was plying the national
highway in barangay Lumangog aboard a motorcycle when the
bonnet wearing tandem bikers drove by and gunned him down.
Autida
was hit on the neck and fell off his motorcycle.
Ronald
Autida, the victim's brother, who was following the latter
aboard his tricycle said in an interview that he immediately
rushed to his brother's side.

However,
when the assailants saw that Autida was still alive,
they came back and shot him again on the head. The barangay
captain died on the spot, according to his Ronald Autida.
The
barangay captain's brother said the gunman shouted at
him that the re-electionist barangay captain had offended
them.
According
to Ronald Autida, his brother just came from a political
meeting with his leaders and supporters in barangay
Camili-an that ended past noon Sunday.

The
brothers were on their way to San Pascual village to fetch
the slain barangay captain's wife when the incident happened,
Ronald Autida said.
In
a separate interview, Ubay PNP chief P/Supt. Eduardo Saavedra
said they are still looking into the motives of the shooting.
Meanwhile,
family of the slain barangay leader said that the killing
was politically motivated.
It
allegedly involve a former barangay official who had a disagreement
with Ramon Autida.
