Nine
incumbent barangay captains in the city's 15 barangays lost
their bid for another term while four others were reelected.
Meanwhile,
reelectionist Cabawan barangay captain Apolonio Onyot's fate
still hangs in the balance as he tied with his contender,
incumbent kagawad Armand Cadayday. Both garnered 198 votes.
Incumbent
barangay captains Glorivic dela Serna of Poblacion 2, Dionisio
Remolador of Poblacion 3, Faro Cabalit of Taloto and Niño
Racho of Poblacion 1 were all reelected.
Although, Racho was not elected barangay captain, he assumed
the post when Celestino Dohig resigned in 2005.
In
barangay Bool, Nestor Mendez triumphed over incumbent Joseph
San Jose. Mendez had 707 votes against San Jose's 633.
Booy
kagawad Eutorgio Telmo Jr. won over incumbent barangay captain
Prudencio Arabejo. Telmo had 1,799 votes against the 1,020
votes of Arabejo.
Incumbent
Dampas barangay captain Elvira Macalandag lost her bid to
former Sangguniang Kabataan federated president Fredison Ingles
in what is considered by many as an upset victory. Ingles
garnered a total of 1,297 votes over Macalandag's 786.
In
barangay Dao, first kagawad Fortunato "Atoy" Cosap
pulled a victory against incumbent barangay captain Florencio
Cornell. Cosap had a total of 1,110 votes while Cornell garnered
958.

Manga's
first kagawad Leda Saco won by a big margin, with 1,440
votes, over reelectionist barangay captain Victorioso
Claro who had a total of 626 votes.
In
barangay Mansasa, Manolo Blanco, a newcomer in politics,
beat the incumbent Leopoldo Pahang. Blanco had 1,189
votes against Pahang's 1,057.
Come-backing
former barangay captain Gildardo Bustamante likewise
won over incumbent Antonio Caseñas Jr. in San
Isidro. Bustamante garnered 786 votes over the 631 of
Caseñas.

Incumbent
Tiptip barangay captain Antonio Restauro also lost his reelection
bid to another newcomer Marcelo Epe. Restauro had 443 votes
while Epe had 769.
In
barangay Ubujan, Timoteo Maglahus, who garnered 661 votes,
beat incumbent Segundina Botero who garnered 618 votes.
Cogon
kagawad Philipp Besas won the race for barangay captain against
a strong opponent, former barangay captain and provincial
treasurer Nestor Balatero. Besas obtained 3,509 votes while
Balater garnered 2,705.
