Guv, 3 solons deny receiving
P500T from GMA

Gov. Erico Aumentado and all three Bohol congressmen said they did not receive money from Malacañang staff during a breakfast meeting with Pres. Macapagal-Arroyo last Thursday.

Aumentado and the solons were asked how much they received, and that their constituents deserve to know what they are planning to do with the money.

The governor denied money changed hands during the breakfast meeting at the Palace together with other governors and some local officials.

NOBEL PEACE PRIZE TO ENVIRONMENTALISTS

 

The 2007 Nobel Peace Prize awards rightfully went to two environmentalists.

One of them is former American vice president Al Gore whose documentary "The Inconvenient Truth" on the perils of global warming drew our editorial praise in the past. In naming the charismatic US former VP, the Nobel Peace panel blessed Gore for being the: "single individual who did the most" to make the world aware of the environmental threats and how we can deal with them.

AFP asks for TRO on release
of Burgos abduction report


MANILA. The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has filed a petition for certiorari and a temporary restraining order to prevent a Court of Appeals (CA) order to the military submit a copy of probe report regarding the license plate linked to the abduction of missing agriculturist Jonas Burgos.

The action by AFP chief Gen. Hermogenes Esperon and Col. Arthur Abadilla of the AFP Provost Marshal shows the military's determination to prevent the CA Seventh Division from obtaining a copy of the results of the military investigation.

In their petition to the high court, Esperon said the CA's order is a violation of the "principle of separation of powers".
