SP summons hospital

The rift between City Hall's executive and legislative officials threatens to widen as the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) is expected to issue summons today for the city health officer and Medical Mission Group Hospital (Coop Hospital) in its probe on overcharging of hospitalization claims.

Today, former NEDA Chief, Romulo Neri - a Boholano - will be an expert witness in the controversial US$330-million National Broadband Network. The deal seemed to inordinately favor a Chinese telecom supplier called ZTE Inc. with a loan linkage from a Chinese bank.

willing to lose job

MANILA. President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo informed Chinese President Hu Jintao that she has decided to cancel the Philippine government's $329.48-million National Broadband Network (NBN) project with Zhong Xing Telecommunications Equipment (ZTE) Corp.

A statement released by Malacañang last night, quoted Press Secretary Ignacio Bunye as saying that President Arroyo "clearly presented her decision to President Hu who understood and accepted the judgment of the Chief Executive."
