Dengue deaths 15; victims reach 1,188

Dengue death toll in the province has now reached 15 with 1,188 others afflicted since January this year.

This is the highest number of casualties and victims of the deadly aedes mosquito since the past 5 years, according to Provincial Health Officer Dr. Reymoses Cabagnot.
Eight of the 15 deaths are from Tagbilaran City.

The latest dengue casualties are Darwin Sarmiento, 2 years old of barangay Mansasa, this city; Louise Jay Ilaya, 7 years old of Borja Street, this city; Aljohn Pitao, 9 years old of barangay Tawala, Panglao; Stephanie Joaquino, 4 years old of Gallares Street, this city; and Grina Bacante, 3 years old of barangay Jaguilao, Getafe.

   

The other victims are Christine Fostanes, 5 years old of Airport Road, this city; Johnny Pinsoy, 3 years old of Tinago, Dauis town; Faith Cimafranca, 6 years old of barangay Mansasa, this city; Franz Coto, 6 years old of Butalid Street, this city; Christine Jade Digal, 4 years old of Cambacay, Batuan town; Angel Jose Orique, 5 years old of Canjulao, Jagna town; Gardel Dagodog, 4 years old of West Poblacion, Albur town; Elaizah Janelle Requina, 6 months old of barangay Bool, this city; Niño Jade Marimon, 4 years old of Catagbacan, Loon town; and Giselle Cutamora, 8 years old of Torrero Street, this city.

As of last week, Tagbilaran City registered a total of 409 afflicted with dengue fever.

Town with high incidence of denge are Dauis with 136, Jagna 94, Loon 54, Baclayon 44, Albur 37, Panglao 30, Mabini 28 and Ubay 26.

Last month, government hospitals were equipped with emergency treatment sections, called as "dengue fastlanes" to decongest city hospitals from dengue patients.

The DOH-7 declared barangays Cogon and Dao, this city having an epidemic of the dengue carrying aedes mosquitoes.

The towns of Dauis and Jagna are also on the DOH watch list.

Last year, the provincial health office recorded a total of 268 dengue cases provincewide.
