The
Armed Forces of the Philippines Central Command (AFP-Centcom)
is considering its transfer here in the province.
This
was proposed yesterday during the Provincial Peace and Order
Council (PPOC) meeting at the Bohol Tropics Resort.
The
meeting was attended by Philippine Army chief Lt. Gen. Alexander
Yano, brother of new 302nd Infantry Brigade commander Col.
Cesar Yano, who was also in the meeting presided by Gov. Erico
Aumentado.
Also
in attendance were Centcom chief Maj. Gen. Victor Ibrado,
3rd Infantry Division chief Maj. Gen. Jovenal Narcise, Bohol
PNP director SSupt. Edgardo Ingking, 79th Infantry Battalion
commander Col. Nestor Porlucas and League of Municipalities

The
AFP-Centcom is comprised of units from the military's
major services - the Army, Navy, Marines and Air Force.
Ibrado
said Centcom is eyeing to relocate here since they have
plans of housing only its administrative offices in
Camp Lapulapu in Cebu City, its current command base.
The
Centcom commander considers Bohol as a strategic place
for their operations center.

According
to Ibrado, they have been asking for a relocation site in
Cebu City, but if the city government could not provide them
the area, then they may have to transfer here.
Other
than Bohol, the AFP is also considering Mactan Island, Cebu.
The
proposal for the transfer of its base here will have to be
approved by the AFP chief, Gen. Hermogenes Esperon.
